Overview of the evaluation
The objective of an evaluation is to determine if your Web site conforms to the accessibility standards set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Other objectives of the evaluation are :
- to determine a site’s accessibility level according to the 46 checkpoints of Priorities 1 and 2 of the Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) 1.0 ;
- to measure the level at which a site answers the needs of users with a disability or the aging population.
The report includes several recommendations to help you improve the accessibility of your Web site. A method is also proposed to guide you through the process.
Types of reports
Although the reports are of a technical nature and therefore primarily intended for Webmasters, developers, and designers, managers and decision-makers will also find valuable information on the overall state of the site.
Five types of reports are available :
- Summary report : a compilation of the major problems encountered on all the Web sites evaluated.
- Category report : a compilation of the problems encountered on all the Web sites of a particular category.
- Web site report : a compilation of the problems encountered on all the pages evaluated of one of the top 200 sites French Canadians visit most.
- Web site report with user tests : Web site report including a functional evaluation (user test) that was conducted to pinpoint the problems encountered when using screen reader software (Jaws or Window-Eyes).
- Report of your Web site : contact us to obtain more information on the procedure and cost of a Web site evaluation.
